Vegetable Gardening Basics – 5 class series

The Hennepin County Master Gardeners program and the Minnesota State Horticultural Society are sponsoring this five class series on vegetable gardening. All classes are free and open to the public. The classes are created for newer gardeners, but all skill levels can benefit from the information provided. If you attend four out of five classes you will be presented with a certificate!

  1. Class #1 is an overview of the basics of gardening. Tools, soil types, methods gardening and more.
  2. Class #2 focuses on how and when to plant your garden. Also tips on reading seed packets.
  3. Class #3 focuses on teaching details on vegetables one by one including when to plant, how to plant and when to harvest.
  4. Class #4 is dedicated to plotting out your garden and will have experienced design volunteers on hand to work one on one with students.
  5. Class #5 is all about maintaining your garden. Weeding, feeding, harvesting and putting the garden to bed for the winter.
